How Long To Bake

Browsing

meatballThe bake time for meatballs depends in part on the temperature of your oven. We like to bake ours at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. For the best results, make your meatballs with a combination of ground beef and pork; the pork adds a bit of fat to help keep the meatballs moist. You’ll also want to add eggs and breadcrumbs to bind the meat together as well as flavorful ingredients like cheese and fresh herbs. Make sure to form the meat into equal-sized balls so they’ll cook evenly. Once you put them into the oven, watch for them to get nicely browned. Use a meat thermometer to make sure that your meatballs are cooked through: When the internal temperature reaches 165, the meatballs are ready.

sausageThe bake time for Italian sausage will depend on the temperature of your oven.

  • 350 degrees: 30 to 35 minutes
  • 375 degrees: 25 to 30 minutes
  • 400 degrees: 20 to 25 minutes
  • 425 degrees: 15 to 20 minutes

No matter which oven temperature you choose, you’ll be able to tell that your sausages are done when they’re nicely browned, the juices run clear, and the inside is no longer pink. If you want to take their temperature with a meat thermometer, they’ll be done when the insides reach 160 degrees.

stuffed peppersThe bake time for stuffed peppers depends on a lot of variables, including whether you precook your filling, whether you precook your peppers, and whether you cut the peppers in half or leave them whole. Here are some general guidelines for baking uncooked peppers with stuffing:

  • Whole Peppers With Precooked Filling: 45 minutes at 350 degrees
  • Whole Peppers With Uncooked Filling: 1 hour at 350 degrees
  • Halved Peppers With Precooked Filling: 20 minutes at 350 degrees
  • Halved Peppers With Uncooked Filling: 35 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees

Our preferred method for making stuffed peppers actually calls for precooking both the peppers and the filling. You can pop the peppers into the oven while you make the filling, and once you stuff the peppers, you’ll only need to bake them for around 35 minutes at 350 degrees.

The bake time for a lobster tail depends on how big it is. Here’s how long to bake lobster tails in a 350-degree oven:

  • 6-7 ounces: 10 to 12 minutes
  • 8-10 ounces: 12 to 15 minutes
  • 16-20 ounces: 15 to 18 minutes
  • 20-24 ounces: 18 to 20 minutes

When most people think of cooking lobster tails, they think of steaming or grilling, but baking lobster is actually a great way to cook them while preserving all of that amazing lobster flavor. Just keep an eye on your tails to make sure they don’t overcook: When the meat is opaque and the inside registers 140 degrees on a meat thermometer, they’re done.

cheesecakeAlmost every cheesecake recipe calls for baking the cheesecake over a water bath, but if you prefer to do it without one, you’ll need to plan on a longer bake time. Without a water bath, you’ll want to bake your assembled cheesecake for 2 hours and 10 minutes in a 225-degree oven. The low temperature is necessary to keep the surface of the cheesecake from cracking. Once the cheesecake is done baking, turn off the oven, open the door a crack, and leave the cheesecake in there for a half-hour to let it cool gradually; this will also help to prevent cracking.

Pork ribsThe best way to get fall-off-the-bone tender pork ribs is to slow-cook the ribs at a low temperature for between 2½ and 4 hours. We suggest setting your oven to 275 to bake your ribs. Before you add dry-rub or your favorite BBQ sauce, you’ll want to remove the membrane from the meat; it will look like a thin skin covering the set of ribs. Then, add your seasoning of choice and put the ribs in a baking dish. Cover them with aluminum foil and bake the ribs until they’re tender.

pork tenderloinThe bake time for pork tenderloin is around 25 minutes in a 350-degree oven. Our preferred pork tenderloin recipe calls for you to sear the meat first, then wrap it in foil along with herbs and butter before putting it into the oven to finish cooking. Pork tenderloin is a thin and juicy cut of meat that’s melt-in-your-mouth delicious, but it’s important to get the time to bake pork tenderloin right, as this cut overcooks easily. That’s why we like the idea of wrapping it up with butter: This will help keep the meat moist.

eggplantThe bake time for eggplant Parmesan is around 45 minutes total at 425 degrees. Baking eggplant Parmesan is an easier and healthier alternative to the fried version: Instead of frying each piece of eggplant one at a time, you can bake all of the pieces at once to get a similar effect. First, bake your breaded eggplant for around a half-hour, until it’s nice and soft on the inside but golden and crisp on the outside. Then, layer your eggplant parm and bake it for another 15 minutes or so, until the cheese is melted and the sauce is bubbly.

zucchiniThe bake time for zucchini boats is about 20 to 30 minutes in a 350-degree oven. As long as you ensure that the filling is fully cooked before you add it to the hollowed-out zucchini, you’ll only need to worry about the zucchini itself: When it’s tender, the zucchini boats are ready to eat. Zucchini boats are a simple and healthy dish that can be flavored in whatever way you prefer. Some recipes call for ground beef, sausage, rice, cheese, peppers, tomatoes, and/or herbs.

muffinsThe bake time for mini muffins is only about 15 minutes in a 375-degree oven, meaning that you’ll be able to get to the good part (eating them) faster! To test for doneness, stick a toothpick into the center of a muffin. If it comes out clean, your muffins are ready to be removed from the oven, cooled, and enjoyed.

Mini muffins are great because they’re simple to bake and delicious at any time of the day. They’re also easy to snack on and easy to pack: Just pop a few into a sandwich bag or a resealable container for a grab-and-go treat!
