The bake time for salmon at 400 degrees Fahrenheit is between 12 and 18 minutes. This is for an average-size piece of fish that’s not wrapped; cooking salmon in a pouch will shorten your total bake time. However, we don’t recommend baking salmon at 400 degrees or without putting it in a pouch: Our preferred recipe for baked salmon is to wrap it in foil and bake it at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes, which will give you nicely cooked salmon without drying it out. If you like your salmon a little crispy, unwrap it and give it a few minutes under the broiler at the end.
